Prom Limo Hire
Having a limo to arrive in when you pick up your date is the trend now for a perfect prom, many young people do choose this option. If it is a little too expensive for children, we recommend and suggest you then consider sharing the cost with other friends who are taking dates to the prom with them also.
Make sure that you have arranged for everyone to be picked up with Ace Star and let us know all the destinations you will be travelling to and from throughout the night.
All cities have more than one school and there are times when several schools have their proms on the same night, this is true for June, for this reason we urge you to book early to avoid dissapointment and also to make sure you get the limo you want for your prom, Ace Star limousines now are getting prom booking 6 months before the prom.
If there are going to be different activities during an after event, then you may want to consider having a change of clothes ready for this part of the night of the prom, depending on what activities you will be participating in. Changing from your formal prom dress and shoes into something else is more comfortable and will avoid something happening to your dress. The same goes for tuxedos, as most of them are rented and if they are not returned in good condition, then additional fees will be charged, let Ace Star know of your arrangements and we will try to cater as best as we can.
Limo Hire Etiquette
As limo owners are expected to treat all their passengers with utmost respect, the latter should return the favor by taking care of the car while in it. Even though you’ve paid a lot of money for a prom limo in Leeds or a wedding limo in Bradford, it doesn’t mean you have the freedom to break things or take the equipment inside the limo. It is not acceptable for any passenger to become unruly or display an unpleasant behavior.
You should let the chauffeur assigned to drive you around to do his job. You are paying for a service so let your driver perform his job. Remain seated until your limo driver has found a safe place to park or drop you off. In addition, it is important to give your driver the time to come and open the limo door for you. Whenever you step out of the limo, remember to bring your valuables.
Please be aware of our guideline. Every limo has a limit on the number of passengers for a particular limo to ensure the client’s safety. For safety reasons we won’t allow you to exceed this number. You can always book another limo from us.
Follow the rules imposed in the area you’re traveling. For instance, it forbids passengers from standing up through the sunroof, consumption of alcohol by underage passengers, use of illegal drugs and so on. If you’re on board a homecoming limo such as a hummer limo in Arlington, which prohibits smoking inside the vehicle, then put away that pack of cigarettes and wait until you’ve stepped out from the vehicle. On the other hand, if you are given the opportunity to smoke, show some decency and use the ashtrays provided instead of scattering your cigar’s ash on the vehicle’s expensive rug. It is also unethical to flick a cigarette out of the window or on the sunroof.
NEW LIMO LAWS
You'll be shocked to know that currently, less than 50% of the limousines available for hire throughout the UK are not licensed properly. They know the law and the required standards, but many just choose to ignore them.
Under current laws, the majority of limousines are restricted to carrying no more than eight passengers unless they have COIF (Certificate of Initial Fitness). This law was introduced due to the low ceilings, inadequate safety exit access and incorrect breaking efficiency, which is dangerous when the limo is overcrowded.
If the vehicle operators want to carry more passengers, they need to register the vehicle as a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV), likening it to a bus, and carry a PCV license. However, the Vehicle Operator Service Agency (VOSA) who issues the licenses will not recognize stretch limos as PCVs as they do not meet the safety requirements for this class of vehicle.
This includes the oversized limousines, such as the stretch Hummer, some of which are stated as being able to carry up to thirty passengers! Anyone stating this is doing so without proper licensing. Therefore, many limo hire companies are taking advantage of the public and police ignorance of the passenger laws and operating illegally.

Campaign launched in protest at the new VOSA laws to protect limo hire industry against new safety regulations1
A new campaign is launched in protest at the new VOSA laws which came into force Today, October 1st 2009. The new safety regulations are unnecessary and will put the future of the U.K limo hire industry in serious jeopardy.
From midnight on September 30th hundreds of limos worth millions of pounds will instantly become un-roadworthy. The owners won’t be able to sell the vehicle to recoup the losses as without the VOSA stamp of approval, the limo is worthless. Limo hire customers will also be affected as those who have booked in advance will find the limo they had ordered is no longer available and an alternative vehicle will be difficult, if not impossible, to come by.
The VOSA regulations will affect limos carrying over 8 passengers. The only official written warning limo owners have had regarding the change in law came in a letter recently. VOSA state that under new powers they will now be able to carry out rigorous road checks and impound any vehicle which falls foul of the regulations. WE argues that the guidelines are unclear and that many limo bosses are uncertain about the rules their vehicles need to comply with.
Limo owners argue that the rules are unnecessary and the figures do seem to speak for themselves. Over the past 15 years there hasn’t been a single fatal accident involving a limousine, which is in stark contrast to the track record of other forms of transportation. As a luxury mode of transport, limos don’t travel at speed and are less likely to put the passengers in danger.
The argument over the VOSA regulations appears to be intensifying with marches and protests scheduled to take place today to coincide with the launch of the laws.
